I always use the analogy of a book when describing a website. You need three things - title of the book, pages and story.The title of the book is the domain name. So if you're a plumber and your business is in London a good "title" for your book would be londonplumber.com or you may prefer WatsonPlumbers.com The pages of the book are what we call the "hosting". This is the term used for an area within our bank of computers (servers) that store your web pages and pictures. The story of the book is the web design. Most of our clients have a fair knowledge of html web design and prefer to make up the story as they go. A web site should constantly evolve anyway and it is better for you in the long run if you can learn a little about how to make a web page so that you can make changes. When you host your domain name with us you get 24 hour access to upload new files and make as many changes as you want.
Lots of our clients already have their own domain name and just need our hosting facilities. This is fine and there is no extra charge by us. We do prefer to be billing agents for the name and would request that we are made billing contacts for the name when it is due for renewal - this keeps things simple and is usually an easy process BUT BEWARE some domain name registration business' charge a fee for moving the domain away - we don't - but they may - so check with the company who registered the name before you place an order with us. If you're not sure how to do this we'll do it for you and let you know what their charges may be (if any).Once you decide to have us host your existing domain name the first step is to choose and pay for a hosting option. We then need to point it to the correct servers. We can normally do this for you - or in some cases we may need to let you know what to do.
